Acadia Disposal District

Welcome
The Acadia Disposal District is a quasi-municipal, non-profit corporation owned by its member towns - Cranberry Isle, Frenchboro, Mount Desert, Southwest Harbor, Trenton, and Tremont - in coastal Hancock County, Maine.
We coordinate solid-waste disposal for our towns. Our goal is to provide environmentally friendly, cost-effective solid waste disposal.
The Acadia Disposal District hosts an annual hazardous and universal waste disposal day, typically in late September. More information available at acadiadisposal.org.
For more information, please feel free to contact the Town Office at 244-7204 or Tremont's Acadia Disposal District representative, Carey Donovan, at carey3d@gmail.com

Trash Collection
There is no municipal trash collection in Tremont. Household waste, construction debris, tires, metal, brush, white goods go the EMR Transfer station in Southwest Harbor (on Long Pond Rd). There is no fee to dispose of your trash at this facility. It is the resident's responsibility to either take it there or hire a private hauler.
Recycling Collection
Tremont residents can participate in the recycling program by bringing their recyclables to EMR. Recycle bins will be next to the the household trash dumpsters. ALL Recyclable materials can be put together they do not need to be sorted by type. See the Recycling Flyer for a list of recyclable materials.
